We don't see what you chuck to waste bins ma .. My diffuser still testing stage.. so far have been tested with the omnibounce diffuser attached. Have not tried direct (without omnibounce) yet... My intention is too shoot with the tube at 90 degree. Seems a bit too heavy to hold up.. Can't imagine what happens when the diffuser drops onto the poor insect I shooting on!! |

It depends on the direction of the light source. I was aiming my cam to this tower then as I moved my cam slightly to the right, I saw the sunlight falling onto my lens causing the flare. So I included the flare in this picture. |

If the DIY is heavy , then have to be careful lor ... I did not throw away any of my photos yet , so far all i keep , regardless of those CMI ones . But i still don't think got Flare ... My DIY intention is to have all the light onto the insect rather than letting the light go back out of other parts ... How to say <_< ... Like your round one , i think light will pass through from behind ...

Ming, basically i think you're trying to eliminate shadows right? your mod looks interesting, try deflecting the flash at 45 degrees to throw from both sides of the lens. it MAY cut out shadows, like a pair of studio strobes. |

Now i have a question here . Why are we doing such a DIY thing on our flash ? So much trouble ... Can't we just go shop to buy a Twin Flash or a Ring Light specially made for Macro Shooting ? Will these settle the problems of diffusing the shadow & have the 'Model' Clear & Sharp ?

yES we can but how much a ring flash or a twin flash cost? Another tin about ring flash is tat the subject catchlight on their eyes will be round (spider). It will also add weight to ur setup. If u use triport its ok but handheld....? Diy diffuser will be cheap the effect will not lost out to those ring or twin flash. ![]() The shadow not so harsh and the catchlight (for mi) is nicer... hehe

So its about the catch light . But it will only be seen on spider's eyes ... If we do Zig Zag diffuser on our flash , will the catch light in the eyes are Zig Zag too ?
