Thanks bro Ming and clkoh...

I see.. so that's for those powerful Cannons la..

last question.. sorry ah, so many questions.. why are they always in white? wouldn't black be so useful for photographers? at least for bro Bengchye, he will not need this tape to camouflage ma? am i making sense? :P

Don't know .. I think they have many colors la.. White is chosen because many people got a fascination for white lenses... Besides it look more appropriate for some people that their white lens with taped white..

People do use gaffer tape for their tripod legs as well... for better grip

depends on what you need it for. for bodies some folks will use gaffer tape to protect it, although personally i feel this is like leaving the plastic on your car seat...

if for lenses:

for grip, bro excelglsi has used (prob bicycle) tyre inner tubing to great effect.

for camouflage, i've cut up my #4, used large rubber bands and like the way we gartered up our #4 pants in NS, this provides very good camo for lenses out in the field. plus its easy to remove and FREE. :)

i've come across mixed reviews on gaffer tape. apparently it does leave residue and in our climate that can turn somewhat sticky over time.

I use it mainly for grip on the camera... also to prevent the lens and body from scratches.
Everyone know how to take sharp photos with good lens, but do u know how to take good blur photos with fantastic lens?

just out of curiosity, how long did it last before you had to change it? since we alternate the items between a rather humid climate and a bone-drying dry cab, i'd expect the adhesive to break down faster than an environment where humidity is quite constant.

bro TH, hmm how long it last ah?.. i change it every 6 months, change it for hygiene purpose. Seem that it is still good as the adhesive didnt really break down and no sticky residue.
