Hi everyone , I have just got my hands on a Reverse Lens Adapter for Macro shooting . Kind of funny when you have to attach the lens the other way round onto the Mount , but it works !2 Samples here ... Exif info still attached , photo direct from camera , just resized . ![]() 1/80 f1 <<< ??? ISO100 M Mode ![]() 1/125 f1 <<< ??? ISO100 M Mode Could be the MF that made the f=1 . At first when i tried , i just mount the Reversed lens onto the body & ... Hardly see a thing through the VF ... Then i used a small piece of paper to open the Aperture full and Viola ! I can see so clearly , but too wide open , the DOF is too shallow . So i decide to have it 1/4 open only ... But stll its a little bit difficult to focus ...Any comments before i go on ? Thank you ! |

Hi Ming, Do you have any 55mm filter lens that have F-stop manually adjustable on the lens? You can start with these if you have. It is difficult to use Minolta/Sony AF lens for reverse macro photography. To use these lenses for reverse, you will need to make a DIY adjustable manual F-stop ring. Steps to do DIY F-stop ring.. 1) Find a REAR Lens cap that you willing to sacrifice 2) Cut a hole big enough for the lens to view through (at the rear side). Do this away from your lenses (dust/particles/etc) 3) Clean well before use. To use, turn the ring to open up the aperture to the size you want (instead of using paper to open the aperture) Later on you can make markings on the rear cap for f-stop (F1.4, f1.7, f2, etc), using the red button on the lens as indicator. Pete Ganzel has done this see here Explore his site, you will find many interesting DIY macro setup as well.. but for those who are good at DIY... |

Hi clkoh , tonight is the latest i see you log in ! Its really hard to shoot using this type of setup ... I did visit the site to see but its quite complicated for me to understand , still reading it ... Will not be easy for me to know how big the Aperture is by making the mark ... Just play play only , i don't think i wll go all out for this . Currently using my cheapo 28-100mm to try . Oh , all my 55mm lens are AF ... May be getting a MF 55mm to try later . |

Yeah most Minolta MC/MD lenses are fully manual.. and useable for this purpose. You can use M42 lenses also if they are 55mm in size. |
