can try modding a filter thread onto the rear cap that you mentioned for adjusting the aperture if really want to.

My 50mm f1.4 is a full Manual Lens . The Aperture can be adjusted from f1.4 to 16 . So when focusing , its always opened wide . After the focus , then i slowly turn the A ring to my desire A & shoot . Its fun actually !
