Problem on the M42 and the modification needed for it.....
http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/forum_posts.asp?TID=3714

Some M42 adapter that works .... http://www.dyxum.com/dforum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1472

Ming have you tried the Minolta/SONY 50mm f1.4 ? Not the Minolta 1st generation 50mm f1.4, but the current SONY 50mm f1.4 or the Minolta 50mm f1.4 RS version.

Only used the SONY 50mm 1.4 before. Have not tried the Minolta first generation so what I said below is just theory only.

the older version has non circular aperture, only the RS and SONY version has circular aperture. Circular aperture generally gives nicer bokeh. The older version has metal body where the RS/SONY has plastic body.

Other bros who had tried both can comment further.

For those interested in a good M42-Minolta AF adaptor can try this seller. The adaptor is finish in black, turn smoothly during mount/unmount and do lock properly. Focus at infinity as well.

Shipment is a bit slow though, around 10 days. Search for minolta in his store....

http://stores.ebay.com/RJ-camera-accessory-store

worthwhile to pool together and buy multiple quantity to share out the shipment cost.
