Warm welcome to you bro.

You like Macros too? Cool. Hope to see you soon and learn together. ;)

For tripod, you can consider a Benro or PPCP. Prices are quite good but look for bro jasahchun, he has a very good value for money tripod.

Had been reading lots of books bout photography during Cybershot period but when i started using my DSLR i find that the pictures are no better sometime worst :scary: . And there is too many function to play with. Stress.... :banghead:

Usually I took a lot of macros esp flowers and protrait. Hee. Now i only had F36 flash and 18-70mm len. Looking for a tripod to for mounting oso. Any good recommandation?? Now on budget constrain.

nothing beats going out and hands-on shooting, and there's nothing better than having the bros here along to share tips and advice. learning is never one-sided and everyone has their own unique experience and style which one can learn from each other.

if u are into macros, i can tell u, some of the bros here are marco experts. take a look at their shots - even better than what u see in books or magazines.

if u are into birding,.. we have a 400mm sniper among here as well and who can identify the birds just by smelling the air around him...

Hi RiRi

It is important we start shooting rather than worrying about how it turn out. We learn from each shoot.

Each time you view a good/bad picture (check the Exif info) on PC, ask these question:
How can I improve the picture if I were to retake the same thing
- composition?
- setting adjustment (Aperture, Shutter, iso, or even creative styles, etc)
- angle/direction of shoot
- etc

Or you can post your question here, be specific. Or post one of your 'bad' picture in gallery, and ask for help. Some of us can help advise, what went 'wrong', what can be done, etc.

Also understand what your camera and lens can and cannot do.. Once you are getting more confident of your camera, you can look at Ming's version of taking good photo :)

Hahaha I alrdy got the BBB virus ,
But i dono wad i'm buying nor do i have the money..
so best is don't buy , ask first :P

Anyway the only stuff i got is like the required stuffs
(Lens Pen, Blower, Lens Cloth, No cleaning kit though)

Me? My interest lies in ... Life?
Like people , faces, expressions.. somewhere along the lines
(Portrait Photography i think)

Anyway , I've read that manual (Like a guide on how to use my camera)
Trying to find time and patience to read it was the toughest actually lol

Wad's I've learnt so far is the 1/2 shutter hold thing (if you can call it tat)

Only thing i really can't seem to get is exposure control
E.g. shooting towards the sun, shooting with the sun, shooting in dark places

And how do you tell if a picture is over exposed?
Reading the histogram i only understand darkest to lightest parts
(best to attach some pictures , will do it soon (Of my own hse :P))

Edit:
Just saw the other post wif an exposure link in it , reading up on it

Well , i have myself under control now ...

Hi RiRi , i have so much photos of Portraits , Faces & Expressions ! All my wife & kids only ... Soon , if you are getting serious about Portraits , its going to cost you more man ...

Read the Manual ? I don't think thats so much useful lor , they don't really teach you how to shoot . Don't be shy , start some questions that you have not seen posted here , even if it had been posted , you might have missed it .

Yeah they don't teach me how to shoot , but at least i learnt more abt my camera :x

Right now my pay is meger.. so no choice... (The Nation doesn't really pay :P)

Yea, i plan to ... "Expand" my equipment and go deep into portrait photography
(I have reasons but mainly coz in the near future i plan to take photos of events like weddings etc for friends :P so.. learn now benefit later ^^)

Anyway most impt of all i wanna get straight is my basics.. Which i find lacking.

Hmm..

I've been fiddling ard wif A , S and P modes for the most part trying to figure out the "Light" portion of taking pictures.

Not sure if i'm correct but when you have sufficient light 1/125 can net u a fairly good picture (E.g. shooting with sun) but tends to net into exposure problems
Once i step into exposure i'm a lost sheep lol

And how about photo terms for pictures
How do you tell if a picture is 'washed out' etc etc

Edit :

Oh , How do you adjust yourself to conditions when you have poor lighting and no flash? (Not inclusive of your camera flash)

And would you normally use your camera flash?
