A 18-250 should be good enough if you do not want to bring too many lenses.
For my Cambodia trip, I brought along a 17-35, 90 macro, 28-75 and beercan plus flash. Its heavy. There was a bro who bought along a 400 lens too.

Camera definitely can but tripod may depend on the airline. Best is to check when you check in at the counter. Some will allow you to carry it, some will allow it if you can stuff it in your hand carry luggage, some will say 'NO'. So it really depends.

why not ask our bros who just came back from Cambodia? Did they check in their tripods?

Then again, if u have a carrying case for your tripod, just use that to store your tripod, and carry it like a hand luggage. If you are already in the plane, the stewardess who thinks it too bulky to put in the overhead compartment , will probably take it over from you to store away and return you when the plane has reached its destination.

i suppose you're going free & easy, and will mainly do street shoots.

i went to ho chi minh last sept and carried only a 7D (no backup ) and the 70-200 ssm, 17-35 and a few others.
if i could do it all over again, this would be my packing list:

TWO bodies:
a + CZ16-80
b + 70-200 ssm

and sigma 10-20 (for landscape)

i went by jetstar, and they were quite strict abt the carry-on luggage limit (7kg), not sure abt tripod as i didn't bring one along. if you don't intend to shoot sunrise or night shoots then i'd say leave that at home. lugged it to cambodia and back, only used for sunrise shoots...
