Hey I'm glad to know you guys are of the same age group, but not that I have anything against younger people/photogs.
Last time, I followed another uncle to Ubin. He's above 50yo, a dive instructor & an Underwater Photographer. I was with my cousin who is a couple years younger than me, and we're both younger than this diver friend. We went through HELL keeping up with him! I have never come across anyone, who can peddle uphill without getting down to walk the bike! He goes on around Ubin like he's running on Nuclear Power! End of the day, he doesn't even look tired while me and my cuz were flat as a punctured tyre, melting like Jelly Fishes slumped on chairs in a coffeshop! That guy is DAMN FIT. You know, whenever we stop to shoot something, me & my cuz was so exhausted, focusing was a problem to say nothing of composing a subject! So that was the last time we went out with that guy. Last I heard, he trekking the jungles in Manado. Wahlou eh, Indiano Jones character, cannot keep up! |

looks like we need to organise an outing for us "uncles". min 35yo and above. oldflower, i am just a step behind Ming, and not too far from Willis, so i guess we're in the same age bracket. i've never had steady hands (born with it though thankfully no medical issues) so SSS has been a blessing for me. still, sometimes camera shake is still possible. what i do to overcome this issue - hey, its DIGITAL! - is to: 1. shoot a few successive frames when in low light/ low shutter speed 2. close my RIGHT eye and look FAR with my left. that way, i don't let the slapping shutter/ image in the VF affect my balance and looking far helps with my balance chances are one of the 5 or 6 frames will survive. hope this helps. |
