Hi, just to check wif you guys.

My Dry cabi 70L always start from 56% (everytime i opened it) and settle down to 30% RH, will this have a side effect on my cam?? Mine is a analog setting. How do you get the right RH setting??

trade it in for a digital one. ;) analog ones are notoriously difficult to get right. and at 30%, all the rubber grips on your lenses, bodies will dry up and crack.

when you open the door, the more humid air from outside will mix with the *super-dry* air in the dry cab (wah, still can't believe its 30%! can make kiam-hrr with it!) so the rH will definitely climb. it won't have any ill-effect on your cam or lenses as long as the dry cab does its job to dehumidify the air inside.

then again, look at it this way, when you travel, you won't bring a dry box/ silica gel etc along anyway. plus, when you go out and shoot for a whole day, your cam and lenses are exposed to much more humid air. the thing is not to get too hung up abt keeping everything so dry, otw what's the point?

30% is too dry, rubber and lubricant can dry up.

For setting, this is what I have done for mine. Let the cabi settle on a stable RH value after a few hours (maybe around 3 hours), then adjust from there. If it's too low, adjust upward. You may have to repeat this a few time and letting it time to stabilize before the next adjustment, until it reaches the RH you wanted, eg 50%. Try using larger adjustment at the beginning and smaller adjustment as it reaches your target value.

Once it's properly adjusted and stabilize at the set value, the next time when you open the dry cabi, the RH will be higher, but it will fall back/stabilize to your set value after a few hours.

Call me KS .. But I actually brought 1/3 tub of silica gel along to Cambodia. Store in bag together with the lenses after cleaning each night..

I just sold off my AD-70 to get the 120L, everything's fine except that the trays, I realised, are made of plastic. My 70L came with metal trays. I missed them. LOL

What kind of trays do your Digi-Cabi come with?
