hoho yeah i know those 2 :b anyway, I'm about to go plunge some money on memory. Any advice if I should invest in Sony memory stick or compact flash? In terms of laptop, i see more laptops supports sony memory stick format, not compact flash. Right now, i dont think i have any intention to buy other sony products, so dont think the memory stick would be crucial to me. but then again, i dont have any other products that require me to use compact flash! hmmm... dilema.... which one is better anyway? in terms of price/speed/memory. Cheers! |

buy compact flash. a) cheaper
there're always usb card readers c) i'm no rocket scientist, but given its size, i'd think mem stick is a little more fragile than a cf, the same amt of mem (2gb, 4gb etc) packed into that tiny thing.. hmm.. more volatile perhaps?i've not done a benchmark test with both card formats, but i've no complaints abt cf. in any case 5fps is as good as it'd get for now so unless you're shooting continuous and non-stop and truly trigger happy, is write/ read lag time really a concern? |

nah, i'm not such a "trigger happy" person :b so writeup time honestly isn't much of a concern to me, as long as its not uber slow. hmm, i guess the performance of the cards don't really matter. so i think i'll just go for the cheapest option ba! *ps. i actually think CF is less durable, it uses pin connections. so if you never insert the card properly, you might actually bend the pins on the male side, which is sadly on the camera body. BUT, never had this happen to me before, and never heard about it happening too! :b* |

bro weishengg, I don't see you mentioning a tripod. Might be useful if you are not travelling with a group of friends. Not everyone on the trip can handle a DSLR to help take some shots of yourself or yourself + your partner. The last time I went on a 2 weeks trip, I got a cheapo tripod and discarded it at the end of the trip when it was falling apart. |

hi bro, thanks for the heads up, but I decided not to carry a tripod for this trip. I think it might be a little too "leh-chey" to carry around with me, as we'll (a group of 3) will be backpacking and pushing around places randomly. And I don't really have a habit of using tripods unless for nightshots, so I got a feeling I would feel too lazy to set up the tripod for shots too :b |
