Hihi, guys I have a problem here. Jus wondering how do we take shot in the night time? I tried to find my subject using the viewfinder and found that it was too dark inside. but nevertheless I zoom into the subject and do a focus lock on her face. after tat I zoom out to compose the whole frame (still focus lock) and "snap". the picture that had came out shown that the focus point had actually shifted away from the face. I had tried many times trying to improve using this method but still unsucessful. ![]() Below is the sample. It's is actually the best for all the shots i had tried but still the focus point had move away when i zoom out.

You may want to check your focusing setting.. is it at Single, Continuous or Auto. Set it at Single or Auto. |

hi, would the zooming after the focus-lock have caused it? maybe when you zoom, the lens element shifted a bit and screw up the focusing. could try taking the shot at the focal length of your intended composition, or try manual focus la! just trying my luck

not all the lens can used the method of "zoom-in lock-focus" then zoom out. not sure which camera you are using. one method you can try is to mount the external flash (without switching it on) to the camera and make use of the flash focusing light to aid in focusing. the a700 has the focusing light built into the body and it's useful for really dark scene. |

18-70mm - no idea if this lens can be used with the zoom-in+lock and zoom out. can try it in day light and see if it works. for the flash assist, is easy. try the following: 1. Put fresh battery into external flash but don't switch it on. 2. Mount flash onto cam 3. with the lens cap on the lens, half press the shutter. you will see the red assist light on the flash lighted. in a dark environment, the red beam of light will be used to assist in focusing. hope this help. |
