I have used 18-70mm with A100 a night , with slow sync flash , did not have problems like this . But i don't do the focus method you used . I will just zoom to the frame i wanted , focus on the subject then move the camera back to frame . Otherwise , there is still a 9 Point Focus for you to chose ma .

Emeritus Alphadslr Official Passerby~shooting badly since 2004 and continuing

18-70mm is not a parfocal lens, u can't af lock and then zoom in/out to reshoot.

Thanks guys,

Will try the methods next time when I go nite shooting again. hee. :D

Btw, I notice that the shutter time jumps with different F-stop number. How does this two numbers relate to each other??

At small f number the DOF is shallow, which is noticeable. But when shooting at high f number, the changes does not appear noticeable for me. How do we decide what F number to set for different scene?? What a high F number useful for??
