Hi, just some simple opinions/comments i'd like to seek =)

1) DRO
Do you usually leave it in a setting, or you constantly change it to suit your requirement?
Personally, I find it difficult to predict the behaviour of DRO, so thats why its usually in OFF for me. Based on my limited experience, sometimes i expect it to boost the shadows in a scene, but somehow it does not.
Thats why i got a bit pek-chek and decided to leave it in OFF and do all the curves and levels back at the computer.
Would appreciate advice on how to predict the behaviour of the DRO!

2) Focusing Points
Do you usually use the wide area focusing mode, or do you always manually select your focusing points?
I dont see a point of using wide area focusing mode because sometimes it doesnt focus on what I want it to, so it gets a bit of trial and error to get it correct. Manual focusing point selection ftw!

3) Shooting modes
seriously, have you ever used "sports mode" or "sunset mode"?
hmm...

4) HDMI output
hmmm... mainly for sharing i suppose? any interesting ways of using this?

Cheers to all!

DRO - off. it loses detail, so i only use it if really desperate. haven't been there yet.

focusing points - spot. always. allows me full control over what i want in focus. recomposition takes a mere split sec.

shooting modes - you mean the pre-progged ones. nope. takes the fun out of the challenge. may as well buy a p&s...

just my 2-cents.

hi,

this is what i know about DRO...

if on, the DRO will use its presets formula to process the pictures that you have taken.. something like a image processor or built in Photoshop which will adjust many things for you..

if off, your pictures will be really raw... means nothing is done to the pictures.. its orginal orginal state..

just my 2 cents.. i can be wrong cos i am still learning... haha..

btw, my DRO is always on la.. making full use of it.. :P

1) DRO - OFF for raw. On A700 + JPEG, adjust at various DRO advance level to get the right balance provided shooting at ISO200 and below, ISO400 still possible but pushing the limit.

2) Focusing Points - Single user select point of focus. I do use wide focus when panning/tracking large subject and the focus not easily fooled by the background. Used it during aerial display of the Singapore Airshow. It has it's use if you know how the camera will behave.

3) Shooting modes - No if RAW. If JPEG, useful to experiment with the "sunset mode" during those period. Have use it once or twice (P-mode, Sports mode) when there is a need to quickly change camera behavior due to my current settings while in manual/aperture priority mode.

4) HDMI - no HDMI cable hence didn't try.
