For staff pass, I reckon its just like passport size photo liao, a mug shot.
The one that look like your avatar is good enough liao. :P
No messy hairdo, poportion check. You can shoot and cropped to poportion, anyway.

hi,

DOs:

- tell them not to be so cheap, go and get passport photos taken.
- get them to sign a model release form. if they ask, tell them: no form, no photo.
- make them pull silly faces - this will give you a good laugh.

DON'Ts:
- do it for them.
- take this nonsense i just wrote seriously. its been a long day in the office, letting go some steam now haha..

ok, you prob drew the short straw. "Oh look! Darren has a new DSLR! Hey, maybe we can get him to shoot photos for our new staff pass!" "Yes! What a great idea!"

so, just suck it down and since this is for a pass, forget about portraiture rules. only things to remember here:

- make sure exposure is correct. flash would be needed
- use a reflector/ desk lamp pointed upwards under the chin to eliminate shadows/ eye bags/ triple chins
- keep whole face in the frame (don't crop hair/ top of head/ chin/ sides)
- dead flat. no glamour-shot pose.
- post the funny ones for us to see ;)

My security officer just ask people to stand in front of the blue backdrop, use a compact to snap with flash, that's it.

You can do much better with wireless flashes, umbrellas, bounce boards at every corners...
