a fellow member asked me how is this lens, so here I am to give a simple review.

The Sigma 50-500mm is a heavy lens,it weights around 1.8kg. The aperture at it minimum focus lens is F4 and maximum focus lens is f6.3.

Using a study tripod is advisable since vibration and camera shake will be multiplied at longer focus length. Using a less study tripod will make vibration worst!hence, if you are into telephoto, please invest a good tripod. Will steady shot works for this lens? For me, no but for some users, yes, maybe I dont have a study hands.

Also, the sony camera mirror slap/vibration is quite bad. Imaging the radio/sound wave, it goes up and down, up and down until it dies out. This applies for mirror slap(vibration), hence using high shutter speed is recommended. Another alternative is to use mirror lock up ( MLU for short).

For photographers like myself who prefer manual focus, you can pull down the focus ring to switch to MF, to switch back to AF, just push the focus ring upward. This lens also built-in with a tripod collars, you can rotate it to switch to vertical or horizontal.

Finally, below are some sample taken by me, some old, some new.

darned cute :$

:jaw-drop: Sharp!
Is the 500mm end hard to control? If it were me, i'd bet only 0.1% of the shots can be used.

surprising clear a clear picture for such a short-supertele range. Any idea what's the price of the lens and how do you feel of the quality for short range? e.g. up to 300mm
