I understand. The virus from 85mm was very strong for me also. I saw the model portrait photos in the forum then couldn't tahan to buy. But lucky that time had no chance to get it. Now my body has anti-virus for 85mm already.

Get a Minolta MD 85mm f1.7 or 85mm f2 with MD-AF adaptor... Its probably as sharp as the 85mm f1.4 G at the fraction of the cost if you budget won't stretch more than $600.

Thing is, if you are going to use it all the time, then AF version might be easier... but if you are going to use it every now and then and don't mine Manual focus... then MD version is easier. It is very bright hence very easy to MF. Maybe I should post some sample comparing Min 85 f1.4 G and Minolta 85mm f1.7 MD and Minolta 85mm f2 MD for sake of comparison.
