Yes , Bro ETTL , i agree on this too . But also most agree on better equipments plays a part also right ? Excelglsi already have a very good Body , the S5 Pro , thats why there is no need for you to go for others ma . Many will be tempted to go for better Body , always . Unless , $ is the issue . Really , after a year with Alpha , i can sense that many A Mount Users are going for better Body & Lenses , this is a fact & i have see it happening day after day . But here , this Topic . If the User is ready to go for better Body , why not ? With better Body , then better Lenses will come . Somehow , the User will stop BBB & start shooting with what he have . |

lens is important so is the body. A300/350 has limited ISO setting, while A700 has more options for ISO settings. Autofocus is better too... So both is important IMHO Imagine, you have a Mercedes Benz or Ferrari but you use Shell Power 92 instead vPower. What happens? Likewise, use a top-grade petrol on a 20 years old car, does it help much?... In my opinion - get good body first. A700 is simply to far difference with A300/350. Treat the body as your foundation when build your lenses according to need Edited by ongl, Jul 11 2008, 11:12 PM.

it depend on what the photographer want to take, for some difficult situation, you will need the better focusing, high ISO, 5 FPS, if not a lower end model won't be much very different to high end model. |

I am with excel-glsi that lenses has more impact than camera to the image quality; but better body is always a joy to use. If got extra cash, BBB both

for me lens is more important... body will have a new one every year, you buy one today next year half price liao good lenses, price never drops much A300+70-300G will most likely have better pic than A700+75-300kit , which are almost the same total price, assuming same skill of course. |

i agree with bro ayukawa and i like the example he gave ie A300+70-300G vs A700+75-300 kit. i say, go for a better lens eg the 24-70mm CZ or 70-200mm G. also, once sony announces new bodies, it won't be just one, but it will be a whole line of new bodies. you can then take your time before buying the new body (whilst enjoying your new lens) to let others try them out before you decide on which one to upgrade to. during one of his newbie courses, julianw said to wait a couple of months after a new camera is launched before buying it for the following reasons, [1] the price will most certainly drop after they the "early adopters" (who always seem ready to pay a hefty premium to be the first to get the new stuff)[2] there may be bugs in the new software which they will iron out with "patches" after the first few months (eg the "focus hunting" issues that plagued the canon 1ds mark III was first released) if you get a new camera now, there a very high chance that you will when you see the new line up that sony will release in a couple of months.you probably won't regret getting a good lens tho'.

I have an A700 and spouse have A300. I can tell the difference from my experience: 1) A300 viewfinder is not as clear as A700. At least two friends of mine who primarily uses A350 confirms this. A700 VF is bigger and clear, while A300 VF is smaller and you have position your eye in the right angle to get a good picture. Even then, there seems to be a layer of white cloud under bright light. 2) A300 LCD is not as smooth as A700 LCD, this probably due to the A700 LCD pixels are almost 4x than A300's. 3) Missing WB button, need to press Fn->White Balance (2 clicks to access WB menu). The first two is really annoying me and if you are used to A700. So definitely, A700 provides a better usage experience even if it doesn't produce better picture quality. When sony body matures in technology, you don't always need to settle to the highest body (e.g. Nikon D60 is good enough compared to D80, similarly D200 to D300), but now A700 is seems to be a good choice as there is none on the similar range from sony. My 2cents. Edited by ongl, Jul 12 2008, 07:31 AM.
