As much as iPhone was being hyped around and I was also looking for it, I gave it a miss. N96 was not in the market yet and so I get E71. Here some of my thoughts on the phones: E71, as any other Nokia E-series, is positioned as business phones. It usually has standard (no extras) multimedia features, while extra features for business applications. The opposite goes for N-Series. E71 is a bit of exception, it has surprisingly a good camera 3.2Mpix (but with AutoFocus) and ShareOnline application that traditionally only available exclusively in N-Series. ShareOnline is a great concept, take a picture/video and instantly upload that to flickr, Vox or Ovi from your phone. It has QWERTY keyboard (thumb) which is a bit cramped than the predecessor E61 and E61i, however, it is VERY thin. When I slip the phone to my shirt or pant's pocket, it is very comfortable. A lot thinner than a wallet. Screen is great (again smaller than E61/i) but adequate for browsing and working on documents. The CPU is very fast, it features the fastest CPU available on Nokia phones to date. It is ARM 369Mhz (I think). Browsing to menus really responsive than any other phones previously. If you have older generation like E61, E61i, N70, N73, you'll see the difference in speed and performance. Little known for many, it has a wider radios than other phones. It has all 4 GSM radios (wordwide coverage) and 3-4 WCDMA (3G system) for different areas - Australia, Europe, Asia and US. Most of older phone doesn't have 3G support for US network. GPS works fine with Nokia Maps 2.0. I use Nokia maps daily for the past couple years. I really like this as Nokia maps have coverage in many countries not just Singapore/ Malaysia which usually offered by MapKing in Windows Mobile systems Battery wise, it has the same battery that powers my Internet tablet and E90 communicator. 1500mAH lithium polimer (not ion). Again longer lasting than my previous phones. After using for a week now, I am quite comfortable to use this phone and would probably skip N96 as I got N95 8GB already. For others, I would suggest to look at N96 also which is great. With Samsung Omnia's negative feedback from few bros in the forum, I'm looking forward also for Sony Xperia, hope it can deliver a good and stable performance compared Omnia. The next exciting product, (Not sure when it'll be out) is the Symbian Touch OS. It'll be like iphone touch screen UI. Search youtube for 's60 touch'. Edited by ongl, Sep 11 2008, 07:38 PM.

hmm hang on bro.. what do u mean by N96 is not in the market? It was launch last weekend? Or u mean it was not launch when you plan to get ur E71? I would think E71 will be a better choice if you already have N95. |

Yes, It was two weeks short from being available in the market when I bought E71. Well, technically my company bought it on my request ![]() Anyhow, N96 has little incentive to upgrade for existing N95 8GB, but it is an appeal for N95 original user (bigger screen, faster, etc). Anyone knows if it worked with TV mobile in Singapore? It can receive DVB boardcast. |

The Xperia is due to be launched in 3 weeks time in Europe, then by December, Singapore will be selling the phone as well. What a long wait for X1, its in my shortlist ever since Sony Ericsson announced it way back in February. Good replacement for my P990i. |

Ken, I may be looking at Xperia if it is really good in performance. It'd be my way back to Windows mobile after many years. Let's see. Samsung Innova (?) with 8mpix looks interesting too. It runs on S60 similar to N96 ![]() Dewakarma, I have seen a China knock-off for E90, N95, etc. Quality wise, they are undersea and sky high My dad bought a fake N95 for fun. Battery can only charge 1, looks real. Camera is only VGA but labeled 5mpix... I'd stay away from those. Phone has to be reliable then we talk about features. |
