How to get the right WB on A300?

I have those Philips 32W white round tube lights installed at home. I set the WB to fluorescent and start shooting. But the images appear to be on the bluish side. I took the pics in RAW mode, so I was able to correct it with the Sony s/w. In the s/w, I set the WB to "auto" and it corrects the bluish tint.

How can I set the camera right so that I do not have to PP it?

you can use custom WB settings. just scroll down from the WB list and you should see that setting, scroll to it, press right so it says SET and then press the AF button. the the next thing to do is idiot proof :P

Usually the AWB is quite accurate, so I uses it even if I'm indoors.

Just look at your picture for the WB, if you not happy with the WB just use the Temperature K to adjust the Temperature, You need some time to Master it. That also 1 of the reason i use RAW instead of JPEG.

Alternatively you may like to get White Balance Filters . Got cheapo $10 ones & Zerocs for about $150 & the Expodisc too .

Otherwise , use a piece of White Paper . I myself do not like to use the paper because sometimes not accurate also , because of the lightings around , got shadow ...

If you have the Lightsphere , you can also use the White Cap to get the WB also .

Just my 2 cents here .

I have tried AWB, but I find it not very accurate. I guess I have to trial and error to get the right WB.

I'll shoot in RAW for now, at least I can PP the WB. I'll consider adding filters in the future. Still trying to figure out the different camera settings. 8)

Sometimes I'll just use the 'Auto Colour' function during PP to solve that. Otherwise, can always adjust the temp. like what bro Stvc mentioned.
