Hi, I sent my A200 + Kit lens for servicing about end of Oct. The focusing ring is stiff and there is some hotpixel with long exposure. The problem was fixed after they change gear and pixel mapping. Ytd when I tried to shoot for night view and prepare for fireworks. I found out there is some hotpixel.. this time even with the long Exp NR on.. the spot still looks bright when i doing the lens cap shoot.. My question... Is this hot pixel will increase with time? The positon of current hotpixel is different that previous one. Thanks |

Hmm.. Make sure it is not a tiny hole in your lens cap? Eg. try long exposure other lens cap, or another lens with different lens cap on? Otherwise you need to bring back service... |

before u send it in, u can hot pixel-mapping yrself, set the date in yr camera to oncoming month ahead. shut down and restart yr camera again, it should take some time for the camera to start up... as it now auto-calibrate/pixel mapping during the first switch-on cycle of each calendar month, just as previous Konica Minolta and Sony DSLR sensors have done to date. |

I guess the pixel mapping function only available to A700 and A900. A200 don have such function. I tried to change the date previously before I send in the kit lens (lens jam) and Camera body (for hotpixel and sensor cleaning) for service on Nov 08. This time the hot pixel appeared at a different location. |

Did you do it this way ? a. Set your camera date to last day of the month (eg. 31st Jan, 2009) b. Set time to 11:58pm c. Switch it off. d. Wait 5 minutes. To ensure it crosses over the midnight to first day of next month. e. Switch on. f. Recheck your hot pixel. If ok, reset date/time to current date/time. A100 has this as well, and most likely all Alpha camera has this functions. Cause it saves SONY Service Center the trouble to do pixel mapping. They won't change the sensor for this as it's not cost effective for them unless you have lots of hot pixels clustered in some areas where pixel mapping will no longer help. |

I tried last time.. The problem has been there for more than 1 month. Since it's 31/1 today. I don't mind wait for 1 more day.. After tomorrow, the spot should be still there.. A100 actually is better than A200/300/350. Sony take out something from A100 to make a cheaper version. aka A200. I read some forum, A300 user also got this problem. Lasttime they did the pixel mapping for me.. This time I will ask them to do it again. |
