tubes with a macro lens will get you some nice close ups, but the focus will be extremely tough. you will need a small aperture to get relative sharpness, plus a tripod, and preferably a stationary object. ;)

I would think +5 closeup lens is not enough for eyes, maybe you can consider +8 or +10.
I'm still using Raynox DCR250, happy with that till now.

Blurblur ! Your Macro Lens can do wonders already , no need to add any filtes on it . If you needed practical , just start organising a Macro Shootout somewhere ... SBG ? I believed a few will sign up & then you can be able to learn more on the spot .

must be macro season, 90% of my shots in Cameron highlands recently were all macro. blurblur wants to get filters for macro lens, a colleague started obsessing abt shooting insect eyes yesterday... hmm..

btw, here's a thought - if you get a shot THAT close, how do you include references in the frame to show how close up the shot is, and, let the photograph explain itself?

I play around with lens & find it fun when the pictures out very special which other len of mine can't do it.
