Which CF card cause the problem?

I think it has error writing. Possibly happening when you have multiple shots?

Things that might help:
1) Update to latest firmware (v3 and above)
2) Use A700 format the CF card before use
3) Ensure you have enough battery
4) Disable picture review after shoot
5) Change to faster CF card
6) Shoot at lower resolution

If all else fail you may need to service :)

it could be the speed of the CF card, when you shoot in burst mode, and prob at high-res (12mb) or worse, RAW or RAW+JPEG, a slow card will cause a backlog on the camera's memory buffer. look through your VF, its a number next to the anti-shake/ SSS indicator. starts at "9", if it hits 0 you'll have to wait before it goes back up before you can shoot again.

formatting a card before each use is also highly recommended. i do that, even if if i last used it in that same camera - iso deleting the contents. cleaner that way.

and check firmware. iirc v1 or v2 had issues with the a700 hanging on some sets.

btw, don't be so trigger happy.

my guess is that your shutter speed was too long. It takes time to process a long shutter pic. Maybe a minute or two?

:P i see i see

taking pics in a concert sounds challenging. Would like to try, IF I get to bring the camera in one day.

Never had "hang" situation like yours before btw on the A700.
Remember to format the card on the cam first.

One other thing you can try

- Camera reset. It is in the menu. Doing it will reset the camera to factory default. Note that you will lose your memory settings if any and I think you file numbering will be reset to zero.. unless you using a CF card with your last shot in it.

next time i have a church shoot, join in. it always features a full band - drums, guitars (acoustic, bass, electric), keyboards and other instruments, besides singers. unless you are talking abt those kind of concert where musicians smash guitars...
