Good afternoon everyone, A few days ago, i went to the HSBC Tree Top Walk and i met 2 Japanese couples. I saw them holding like a bazooka-like lens and Nikon camera taking photos of birds. It was raining then. I was wondering if i am using my A300 outdoor and suddenly the weather turns slightly bad, say drizzling, can i continue? or would water gets into the body? Sincerely Bryant Ee Y.C. Once a bro, always a bro |

Drizzling is okay... I remember Julian leaving his a700 + 70-200G in the rain... My own a700 + 70-200G has gotten drenched before, so far it's dry inside, and not rusting. Brand accidentally dipped his a700 into the milo-toned waters of Tonlé Sap... at least, a significant part of the VG into the water... he sent it into SSC, and it turned out fine - at least that's what I've heard. So my take is that it's weather proof to a certain extent, - though it's not advertised because stating that your equipment is weather proof is a big liability especially in the RMA department. But I believe that weather sealing gaskets and rubber seals are there on the A700, and are very solidly built. I use it with a measure of confidence - even when the weather isn't fine. At least, I know that it can survive if I'm - touch wood, caught in the rain without preparation. I've seen and heard many so called weather proof cameras going down in the Rain - weather sealing failures are a common thing even with bodies and lenses that are supposedly weather sealed. Nevertheless, for your a300, for the body, if I remember correctly, it is not weather sealed, but like my a100, it should be able to survive a drizzle or so. However, it's important to prepare yourself for a wet weather program if you are planning on heading outside. Also, It's important to take care of your equipment and dry them after they get wet. |

i've shot in heavy drizzle with my 7d, a700, km 400, 70-200ssm covering a football match (as opposed to trying to run 200m with all that gear), towel-dried them, turned down the rH for a week and everything is fine. |
