jason. to run intel i7 processor, u need a motherboard with X58 chipset. also, u need 3x DDR3 ram to support the triple channel memory access.
If you are running a PCI-x16 graphic card, most likely u will be able to upgrade to a PCI x16 graphic card.
hey bro, thanks for your answer..

it brings more questions to me.. how to check if my motherboard is a X58 chipset

currently im only running on 2 x 2gb DDR2 ram.. and I think my graphics card is having DDR2 ram in them too.. is that why graphics does not look real fantastic on my GTA IV, despite having to use a graphics card with 768mb memory..

also, how do I check if my graphics card is a PCI-x16 graphic card?

Thanks for answering bro ;)
Your mobo is a not a x58. X58 boards are new and when you got your system, X58 mobo still haven't got to Singapore yet.

And, do I see a micro ATX board? I can only see 2 ram slots there instead of the usual 4 from a full form ATX board. . .

jason. most likely, infact can be quite sure ur mobo is not with x58 chipset. you can check the chipset during the bios boot up screen, they will show it.
As for your graphic card, u have to check ur device manager to see what graphic card is installed.

if you are running core2duo, most likely its a P45 chipset.

for Core i7, other than the x58 chipset, it also requires a new socket for the processor. iirc, its socket 1377. if you are going to upgrade to i7, u will have to change ur mobo, processor and ram. that will cost you at least 700 for the processor n mobo combi. DDR3 is still not mainstream yet, expect to pay a premium to get it. .Dun worry so much abt ur current setup, it should last u at least a few more yrs.

yupz, its a micro ATX. most likely the chipset is G45 that has a built-in graphic.

ya lor only have 2 slots for ram.. that's why there are 2gb x 2 for my Vista comp..

bro mahojazz.. im running Core 2 Quad 2.66ghz.. maybe when i upgrade.. maybe not an i7 like bro XkaOnslaught's.. maybe some other equivalent chip for my motherboard..

actually seriously thinking through after i bought the computer.. i seriously love Asus motherboard.. thinking if it's possible to transplant the Processor, ram, PCI cards to my future Asus motherboard.. =)

and if im using a micro ATX board? does it mean that my casing is only for micro ATX board?

High chance, can let us see a overview of the mobo and back of your casing?

From ya casing...you r stuck to a micro ATX. Unless u upgrade a casing to support full ATX MB.
