Actually, I love grain - so there's a setting that gives it, and 3200 / 6400 are the ones that give it.

Not Owl la , its those White Parrots with Yellow Head ... I have shot it once some time ago they are back recently . They make really irritating loud 'Cuckoo' sound & brings lots of attention ... But they are just too far from my house to shoot & once as they fly across , i just missed them ... Maybe its time to think of 'Other' Lens liao ... But wait later Birder will say 'Who says Birding need long Lens ?' ... >>> Hi CA , cannot shoot Birds with grainy effects leh , not so nice ... |

Try tripod, 2 sec timer with cable release? Can get better result. Else mount your flash with tripod too... Unless the bird really too far your flash cannot reach... Normally the birders will use flash with "extender" I doubt you have it (I don't have either, but a diy version).. so just flash alone will do la. |

Hi Birder , cannot use flash , its too far already ... But i never will try the ISO higher over 2000 because its going to be all Noise ... The Bird is among the tree & its quite dark also ... Gave up liao la ...And i don't have any of those 'Extender' . Only if i have a 400mm or longer , then i will get one . Anyway , my doubts here is actually wanted to know when will the ISO 3200 or 6400 be used . Don't care , without trying will not know . Next time i go out bright daylight to try shooting with ISO high up to over 3200 to see how is it . |

Ming, high iso in bright daylight will not throw up much noise, only visible in darker areas of your picture. but the graining is not as bad as under low ambient light. |
