Hi all,

Pardon me if the topic had been discussed so many times. As this is my first time here, please be nice :$

I have one filter which was given to me from someone. Name of the filter as written on it "B+W 55E 010 1xMC". Can someone please enlighten me what is the puprose of this filter? Can i use it as a lense protector and will it cause effect to the picture? :Thanks:

Cheers.

bro,

next time google ma...

i got this when google..

B+W 77mm MRC (010) UV Filter Review. On a digital SLR camera, the primary purpose of the B+W 77mm MRC UV Filter is lens protection for expensive lenses ...

so i guess its probably a high grade UV filter.

If I'm not mistaken, its a UV clear filter for lens using 55mm threads. B+W make good filters, you landed yourself a good accessory there! Cheapest I can get for this is around $50+.

To put it simple, filters would affect the quality & quatity of the light going through the lens elements.

Here's some past posting to clear your doubts :)

Why you worry about us being 'Not Nice' ? We are all nice people here sharing experiences & knowledges ma .

This is a piece of good filter with a 55mm thread . You can use it on any Lens with a 55mm front to screw in . I am not very sure about the 010 but i think its kind of a Rating for UV ba ? As for the MC or MRC , its something to do with the 'Coating' .

Hope this helps to clear your doubts . Otherwise , will have to wait for other Pros to pass by here for better explanations .

Thank you guys for your guidance. I tried to look the name through B W website but can really find it(maybe did'nt look hard enough) :banghead: .

Guess its more of UV filter. So there shouldn't be a problem for me to use it. I'm just worried if its more of a "warmer" filter type which will change the color of the photo

Name of the filter as written on it: B+W 55E 010 1xMC;

55E denote 55mm filter
010 denote UV-haze Filter
MC denote multi-coated which is older version, a bit thicker in the thickness.
---> Newer range are XS-Pro MRC with F-pro, MRC with F-pro; F-pro, etc
