Just bought a Carl Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 ZS mount (M42). Put on a M42 to Sony/Minolta AF adaptor.
It cannot mount onto my A300 body. Something is blocking it to turn in.
I can mount nicely on my A700.
Also, inside A700 there is a setting to switch on "Release w/o lens".
Is there such a thing in A300 bodies ?
Is there any new firware for A300 ?

Thanks in advance

If the M42 to Sony/Minolta AF adaptor is make corretly, it shall be able to mounted onto any SONY DSLR.

You may try just the M42 to Sony/Minolta AF adaptor mounting onto the body. Too tight? or What's blocking?

Note, some adaptor (thickness too thick) may not turn to infinity or beyond infinity.

If you want AS or SSS to work, you need the M42 to Sony/Minolta AF adaptor with AF confirmation type.
(Come with 5 or 8pins with rom chip inside.)
It comes with pre-program 1 lens or 4lenses. Not available in local.

Ya, for SONY only A700 has a setting to switch on "Release w/o lens"; A200/A300/A350/A900 does not have this in the firmware.
But these models can be use in fully manual mode.

Better solution for those body without "Release w/o lens", use AF-confirm m42 adapter (M42 to Sony/Minolta AF adaptor with AF confirmation type) for shooting in Aperture mode and exposure metering.

Thanks Mino. Sorry did not get back to you soon. When I sit the MF lens in the A300 mount, I try to turn in to lock. It cannot move both direction. Could not find anything blocking it but can feel something is stopping from moving. Even off the AF on the A300 body. Still cannot.
I have no issue on my A700. This is a japanese mount. Said to be okay on A350. Strange ???
