hi, i just got a broken uv filter from someone. anyone knows how to take out the glass? i need to replace it with a IR glass.. |

in the female thread side...there should be 2 groove opposite each other...it can be use to unscrew the glass off.

bro, why not just buy an IR filter? unless you have a piece of that glass with a broken ring or w/o the ring... iirc these filters are machine-assembled. i doubt if we can produce working quality by hand.. |

if you looking to cut a glass to fit in, it is possible but not with ordinary tools... But the easiest IR fliter to work with is the Cokin's P007 plastic IR filter... Lets in a lot more light than Hoya 72... I have successfully cut and shaped 1 for 77mm lens thread... To remove the glass of a ordinary filter, there is a retaining spring in the fliter. Look for the small gap in the retaining spring and pry it out with a tiny screwdriver... cut your filter to the size and fit it in. Replace the retaining spring and your are done! |
