If you shoot in RAW or cRAW only, you can set AWB, with NR off, DRO OFF and everything else standard. Because in RAW, all the AWB, DRO, NR does not really matter, have no effect.
Some correction here. When you intend to shoot RAW, make sure DRO and NR is turn off. When DRO is enabled, the exposure is affected, and most of the time you will get a much darker image in RAW. For NR, if I remember correctly the setting does affect the RAW image as well.

These are some of the complaints about SONY handling of RAW.

To Dom ... if you have similar thought on jumping ship, just ask yourself "What's lacking in the current camera that prevent you from taking the photo you wanted ?" The answer can be technology/features limitation or even own skill. Once that's answered, then ask again "Will the other camera be able to do what you wanted ?" The other camera can be other brands or same brand but different models.

There are some who moved from DSLR to P&S, why ? Because with DSLR it stays at home most of the time and no photos are taken. With a compact P&S it get carry around a lot more and used more. Different people, different needs and different product to cater for those needs.

Just curious Dom, why consider "C" & "N" only ?

How about "P", "O", "P", "L", "H" and etc..

I for one switch from C to Sony. All due to the Zeiss AF lenses. But it does not means other Sony/Minolta lenses are no good. I do have a few and they are for certain purpose.
Anyway, when I was in C, I could not get the picture quality I want. But it still make picture. Now in Sony, I could get the picture quality I want and make more greater pictures.
Will I go back to C.....Maybe....maybe even 2 systems but for difference purpose.
Every system have its up, down and followers.
It is best we compare our pictures and not our camera.

Perhaps someone has mentioned this but the Zeiss lenses alone, together with built-in SteadyShot is already a unique reason to stay with Alpha system.

I read a few thread from Dpreview, Zeiss primes for Alpha mount seems to be much better than similar lens in C or N. I haven't tried similar lens from N/C, but these are what I have read time to time from different people.

http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1037&thread=31506687&page=3 (somewhere in the middle)

Another reason is that, I always like to look all the setting in the screen rather in top small LCD.

Despite so, it is not perfect, Got a few complaints also like what Bro TankM mentioned and of course ISO that need extra work.

Yay, finally we get some harmony in this thread. Thanks for all the advise. Wanted to switch to Nikon coz of D90. Considering Canon coz of their 85mm F1.2 lens. Anyway anyhow, i think our 85mm F1.4 CZ should be enuff la. So you guys know where my next bonus goes to. Haha!

You won't be disappointed with 85mm CZ for portraits.. It's my main lens now.
If you somehow can get a FF body like A900, it'll be only be better in Bokeh and DOF.
