Hi, May be i am asking a noob question. If you switch your focus to AF on the camera or even some lens, is it alright to rotate the zooming ring on the lens? This is because i feel it is quite stiff, I worried it is because I am in AF. Hope to all pro bros or sis out there can advise me on this. Thanks alot |

Zooming ring no problem, can turn anytime. However for the focus ring, best to switch to MF before turning. In AF mode the focus motor and gear is still engaged to the lens gear. Different story again if you using SSM lens. |

Which Alpha are you using ? Like what Mr Tankm said , its alright for the Zoom , but if its set at AF , try not to 'Force' to turn the Focusing Ring . |

Thanks bros for the reply I just gotten A900 + SAL2470Z SSM. SAL2470Z has a Focusing Ring and Zooming Ring. I find it is to stiff on the Zooming Ring. Thats why i not sure if it rotatable when both lens and camera in AF modea and worry may damage it. So with this lens, any advise. Would it advisable to switch to MF, then rotate the zoom to the required distance, and swirch back to AF? |

It's normal. All lens can be zoom with AUTO FOCUS or Manual FOCUS. for 24-70 you can turn the focusing ring with autofocus mode too. |
