No more cable release? That's serious, how to do B mode?

And the cute flash doesn't seems works for me. For A900 yes, but rather use built-in flash for other body.
Why not just a flash commander like previous minolta did, and other brand also? Often we do not want front light for off camera flash.
Sony Alpha.

Well... If I understand correctly, just take a look CS buy-&-sell section, where many selling their a200/a300/a350, a few weeks after they bought them. From here, I can imagine a typical scenario: user A have P&S, he saw the pictures taken with DSLR, like its images and bought the "entry" level DSLR. After a few tries, discovered "entry" level is not so "entry" at all. Gave up and put his newly bought a200/a300/a350 on sales. In business sense, this mean, we have users who can afford the price of DSLR but unwilling to get into such learning curve. This also mean, there is a market here that has the potential to grow, and Sony, wants a piece or chunk of it.

These cameras are clearly not design for us. IMO, they are aiming for P&S users who just want pictures/images of DSLR quality, with an easier interface, and not so intimidating features/options. I also notice from one of the links, a camera bag looks more like lady's handbag - This shows, Sony's is trying to expand the traditional users of DSRL, from those who are willing and more prepared to learn photography to those who just want to treat DSLR like P&S (which so far, I have not notice others doing it).

Is it a bad move? I am not sure. Maybe Sony should just improve the H series?

Anyway, just my thoughts about these cameras.

By the way, regarding some features that has been drop (from a user who only have about half a year experience with DSLR):

1 - Wired remote? I rarely use the remote, I think, only use it for fireworks and light trails. Though, it can overcome by using timer (maybe tricky, but I believe is possible).

2 - AEL button? I read about it in the manual but I have never use it for any of my photos (yet). Maybe I need to try and learn it better. Haha...

Since now the new lenses all come with SAM focusing motor, make me wonder will Sony take away the focusing motor on the new entry body like Nikon. If they plan to do that, definitely bad move.
an unlikely move. probably this is their attempt to make a cheap and silent focusing motor..

if they remove the focusing motor on the body, doesn't that practically make all AF minolta lenses obsolete ?
removing the ability to use Minolta lenses would take away one of the stongest competitive advantages that Sony DSLRs have against its competitor.

Hope so.
Just afraid in future Sony introduce new entry level model, can only AF with new SAM lenses or expensive SSM lenses. Then better model still with focusing motor to use wide range of lenses.
Even Nikon can do that for their own old lenses, no reason Sony can't do that to minolta lenses.
Sony Alpha.
