The speed of the cards affect the cost more than the difference of the type of card... U can have a 30mbs SD and 30mbs MS card.. the only difference is the cost... Not too sure about the cost for SDHC for a 30mbs, but a MS 30mbs for Sandisk is around $70... |

SDHC is generally cheaper compare to MS for the same capacity and speed rating. However, if you have multiple DSLR body there might be an advantage of using MS as it allows swapping memory card around and don't have to buy so many different spares . Not sure why SONY now decides to use SDHC on A550 like C & N, which means all lower range will probably move to it as well. A700, A850 & A900 uses both CF and MS, which I prefer. |

SD or MS ... I would say the SD can perform faster than the MS . But then again , i still think the price of the cards give different results of the writing . |

thanks tankm, i suppose that sd card is the way to go for me given the price. was actually wondering whether the ms card to be used for the a550 wold give it the 7 fps and the sd wouldn't. would hate to buy a card and realise later that it cannot write fast enough because of it's speed. alternatively, i get the fastest card avaialble.....

I would go for the MS if I am going to upgrade the body next time which uses MS and CF. Therefore I can still use my MS while giving me another option for CF. If I get a SD, I will be just chucking it aside if non of my other electronic devices dun use it. Or I can just use the SD as a USB flash drive, which I am usinig my CF now as my portable storage device for work transfer |

I use my existing CF that I use too for my camera as a thumbdrive la.. haha... not like I go buy another CF as a thumbdrive. but then, CF as thumbdrive is very, very much faster than using a USB stick thumbdrive. When I am not shooting, just working, I will use my CF lo... I don't think the capability of fast CF should only be use for just the camera Perhaps that's the reason why I will sometimes forget to bring my CF card out along when I go out shooting. That is why it is useful to have a MS card that is permanently slot into the camera. I don't use SD, coz non of my electronic stuffs uses SD, except for my GPS, which I dun use the slot at all. I hate to have too many different kinds of cards. |

yah. I agree. SD cards now have fewer applications. Only my laptops take SD now. Phones now use mainly micro-SD. If speed and cost is most important, then get SD. Else use MS, cos you can use that with more things. |
