I really liked the skies, very, very dramatic.
Bro, it was pouring down at that point. :o
Noticed the flash quite harsh? I forgot to bring my flash trigger, only brought receiver. So no choice, have to shoot without softbox from a distance. haiz
Actually, I really like the hardness of the light... :) It matches quite well to the styling. The first shot really worked for me this time 'round... and if I was there, I do consider the downpour to be a god's send. It's really Good - a shoot doesn't have to be in good ambient light every time. The ambient lighting can carry a mood, and it's not everyday that you get to shoot in such special circumstances, and the contrast of the background and the subject is really strong.

If you really want to go "fashiony" on her, you can experiment with shots that really closer, leave less space around the model, that would be something different from your usual shots. :D

Did u guys ask Seluna to dance in the rain or something at the end? It would be Really really cool, but if only you've got towels for her after that... :neener:
Ic ic. BTW, the contrast of the BG and subject is created using the photography technique you tot me. :D

I try more fashiony DI later. Thanks for the tip.

Dance in the rain....good idea!! Not sure if Willis would let that happen though....haha
Thanks bro, you give me too much credit liao. :)

I think it really worked out very nice, think you levelled up liao! :D

Ahhh uncle willis would know that sacrifices for the sake of fashion's worth it! :sofunny:

Hehe, there are no absolutes luh bro. ;) Those other stuff are fashiony too indeed, in their own way - boundaries are drawn by the he who sees it. Some draw it clear, others choose not to draw at all.

Shots can be really close up and tight - to drive attention to the model and the clothes she wear, but another way is to give it space, and then putting your subject on strategic locations within the frame, you can choose to follow the thirds and harmony etc etc, intersection of diagonals etc etc.

Once done, tried and tested, it's possible to do something else, and perhaps break those "rules". Rules are human after all. But in the spirit of exploration, even after something's been done and accomplished, with the help of another set of eyes, one can learn that there can always be suggestions and other things that we can do in photography, and such are the words that I give to bro Zapper - there are always other things we can do and think of doing. :)

There is an endless repertiore of visual devices that one can employ during photography just by composition alone. Lots of stuff we can learn...

As an after thought,

In school, even though if someone's works can seem very good and resolved, but it appears, the more stuff we do, the more critique we get. Critiques don't sound pretty, but they are really helpful to the artist. :)

Guess we had enough OT, let's all enjoy the fruits of bro Zapper's works. :D

zapper ! are u interested in getting a more powerful light system like Photon which Richard is using ?
Think what bro Zapper have is rather sufficient for his style of work... :) like what bro cjng has and is using, is light weight and effective.

You guys might have to consider the weight of the system... but if you guys are really intending to go ahead, you may want to opt for something lighter, like the Li-Ion bty pack sets from Jinbei or even Profoto. :)

Sorry, I got no interests in all the talks with facts changing all the time.
Seriously I would not press what I felt is "fashiony" on others cos end of the day, it's one's style.

"Those other stuff are fashiony too indeed, in their own way - boundaries are drawn by the he who sees it. Some draw it clear, others choose not to draw at all."

Yeah, nice to see yours :)

I guess that I've have suggested the "fashiony" stuff to bro zapper in the "matter of factly", for that, I think that is an oversight over at my part in terms of phrasing, so I think I'd eat back my own words in that respect.

But anyways, to clarify, I don't really want to think about stuff in true absolutes. There are possibilties everywhere and being non rigid helps. :)

dont really understand what you guys are talking about sometimes... maybe i'm too out of touch with forum culture already but i do know good photos when i see one and bro zapper has done some great job here. My only reservation is #6. Perhaps its the wind or the angle but her outfit looks 'puffed up'...

Thanks Brandon. For #6, the wind behind her back caused this. Boh pian.

Richard - Thanks for your sharing your thoughts. Appreciate it. In truth, I just went with my instinct. I tried to crop tighter, but somehow it didn't look so nice to me. That is why I opted for a bit more headroom and side spaces.
