Well, photon is quite good, very cheap, but battery pack of current series is very heavy, 11kg a piece. Sealed Lead Acid ones... As for circuitry, the 400w set is more reliable as of now... the 300w set does get some heat problems with heat. As heard from the bros at Orient, they might be working on a set that is an improvement in the flash head and also the battery size... So I think if can tahan for a while, I think they might have new stuff for you to look at. Heard it's more reliable too. ![]() But as before, your F56 is quite handy, and I think you've done very well with the lighting you have on hand. If you are taking equipment to places here and there, you get encumbered to a certain extent.

You are probably right. I was just wondering what more can be done with a proper 300-600w strobe.

Well, a strobe allows you to do shots like you did for Seluna even in relatively strong ambient light... if you are planning to cut out sunlight (especially when the sun is relatively strong) and replace it with strobe light, your f56 would probably struggle in such situations, and usually you may end up using bare flash and fire directly - because there isn't enough power, but if you are using powerful kilowatt strobes, you can do it with giant umbrellas and soft boxes... ![]() added: That is the reason I carry strobes with me for almost all my shoots these days - I've stopped using the vivitar flash altogether due to that reason. ![]() But however, It's not impossible to shoot full body shots with the F56/58, as bro cjng has demonstrated with his f58 + pol fader combination. But in that respect - he allows more ambient light to come into the shot, so the flash doesn't have to work so hard - and... that's where my style and his differ, I reduce the ambient light by a great factor, thus I require a lot of flash power. Noted. I guess I was lucky that it was cloudy that day. On another day I will have to put the flash + soft box right beside the model, or use naked flash.... Or I can get my hands on a cheap strobe and trolley the thing around like you. Hahaha King - Thanks for the compliment. I am looking for your thread on the strobes... No problemo bro, just take note about the size of that box in your trunk... bowling is important after all, you know (lol) Actually, I've made flash work on bright sunny days before, but like you said, you'd have to put it rather close that it sometimes just gets in the way of the shot, or sometimes, it just cannot light up the model fully and evenly because soft box too small or flash power not enuff etc etc... as said, it's a bit harder to get the effects I wished for, but not impossible but still got hope. ![]() Over the many photo shoots you did over the period of time, I do see that you're very adaptable and capable, so I think you'd do very well with whatever you can get your hands on to.
