Slowest shutter speed with flash on A mode

I've noticed that the slowest shutter speed on Aperture priority mode on my A100 body at the 18mm end of my kit lens is 1/60s, and it doesn't go below that. The maximum's 1/125, which i understand. However, I can't get why the slowest is 1/60s with flash, because in M mode, I can go below that and continue shooting. Is there something wrong with my flash, or is it the body itself?

Btw, I'm using a f42am flash, and I've cleaned the contacts with an eraser, and the same thing still happens.

Funny I've never noticed that before. I've just realised it today when I was shooting for an event. But, since you said it's normal, why does Sony/Minolta not go below that? Is there any reason for it?

yes u can, just shoot in manual or shutter mode.... )just joking).....
no choice it the default setting. i had try google but unable to find expanation for one either.

similarly different system in A mode also act differently.
especially canon...it will either flash at the defaulted flash-sync speed or match the flash with the ambient. either of the 2, they need to go to custom menu to set.
