Hi guys, i'm new to photography, recently got my 330L in sept. i'm travelling to bangkok at the end of the year and need some advice on what equipment needed for just basic photography like taking ppl and maybe some scenery photos of buildings, streets etc etc. i am thinking of bringing the 18-55mm and DT50mm F1.8 lens with 1 battery, and its charger, do i need anything else? thinking of bring a tripod along too, but i'm not sure how am i going to carry the tripod along with me everywhere to shopping areas ! can some pros out there who travel frequently advise me? and also are there any cheap bigger camera bags than the sony bag given for me to store all my stuffs + tripod? Thank you guys in advanced ! Edited by kaysee, Oct 30 2009, 12:59 AM.

my inspiration, my journey...

i think it depends really on ur personal itinerary. if it is basically for a typical holiday, i will not bring my tripod along but will bring my fast lens instead for night shots. well, the only fast one i have is a 50 f1.7. however, if u have the time and know where u will be going, u might wanna consider tripod for low light scenery shots like what those who have gone to borobudur and mt bromo did. typically for me, id bring my kit, 50mm and my 70-300 just for that extra reach when needed for a typical holiday. |

i found my 2 kit lens 18-70 and 75-300 suitable for holidays, you may want the reach. tripod is inconvenient so i dont bring. so some shots cannot be taken. at night if nearby can use flash, if landscape or building...no chance. |

You will need memory cards and batteries. If you want to take night shots, better to bring a tripod. |

kit lense is good. for me i walk around japan with only 24mm last time. and you should get a metal tripod which if collapsed around your arm length size. doesnt matter what brand. look for solidness. then change the head and buy a better ball head. capable of supporting up to 3Kg. This kind of setup is light enough and strong enough even to support Bigma. I climb Fuji san with this setup. |
i will appreciate very much your comment on my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/mukyo/ | |
