Sony has released firmware v1.10 for its DSLR-A380, DSLR-A330 and DSLR-A230 digital SLRs. The latest firmware for all three cameras locks exposure on the focused subject, when the metering mode is set to Center Weighted or Spot. The firmware update is available for immediate download from Sony's website.

No updates for A900, A350, A300 and A200.

If no update means the current firmware is good enough so why be sad?? Unlike the 7D which has a few firmware updates out to fix all the issues unfixed since the body launch.

Actually the cameras are good enough - after shooting for a while with quite a number of camera bodies - I'm deciding to downgrade my A700 to A100, and sticking with it.

Actually - firmware is needed only to address some issues - incremental performance gains are better served in newer camera bodies (Marketing dept). Think the CCD's noise performance limit somewhat reached for the lower end cameras - just the in camera processing an be improved more or less - but in that regard, in the interests of their own marketers, they'd serve that improvement in new cameras.

At least there should be a firmware to correct A700 V4 flash white balance issue. Just like LX3 immediate update the firmware to V2.1 after found out something wrong with V2.0.

Yeah man - the WB issue with A700 makes it really crazy at AWB... (though no issue with those who set it manually, but it's a hassle.)

So the noise is not an issue in the A 900 ,comparing the A 550 which is a lower end product could shoot up to 12800 ISo. Personally i feel that is an issue ,they have not intended even to look at it. They just can't keeping quiet on that.
