It's real, a novel concept, light weight for travel and can be changed for portrait shot (with slight backgound blur), but with so many competitors now, esp M4/3, it will be tough to succeed. The pricing must be right, & more varieties needed. But lens with sensor may make it price prohibitive.

Actually I quite like Ricoh design, GX100 was more user friendly than any compact cameras I had tried (e.g. FZ5, LX3 etc).

not only that, different lens/sensor has different its different abilities. one can only take video in VGA format while another in HD..thus i think it might be very user-unfriendly..

but the only take-away is that since both lens and sensor are attached, i suppose there will be less instances of lens dropping :P

It will be very tricky on trying to explain and convince on why the sensor is larger and what are the benefit to new user

But this concept is quite good for traveller, and if they can keep the cost down, it would appeal to some users.

Ya this system will just burn off ur pocket. U upgrade the sensor, u have to get the new lens as well. Not really practical.

Just wonder how did they do their math. Sensor technology changes very fast compare to lens. Still waiting for the day when DSLR can swap sensor & processor as well instead of keep buying a new cam body every few years.

Impressive ! I had always wanted to give Ricoh a try but because it's not wide enough compared to many PNS , especially LX series ...
