Just received the Minolta-m43-Adapter. The adapter is made of metal, good finishing but the fitting when mounted with lens is a bit loose. There is an aperture ring on the adapter where you can either open or close the aperture. If you want to use in between aperture just made a best guess when turning the aperture ring. Cannot be used on SSM lens, cause they do not have the aperture level, hence it's always at the smallest aperture. Cannot be mounted on CZ SSM lens as the aperture level pin on the adapter is too big to fit. On the Lumix G1, just set it to aperture priority and the camera take care of the exposure by setting the shutter speed. As expected, only manual focusing. The G1 manual focus assist is very useful in getting an accurate focus. The manual focus assist can enlarge any area on the frame with 2 selectable enlargement size. This I believe is very similar to the A550 manual focus assist. As I have not use the A550 I'm not sure if you can move the rectangle around to select the area for enlargement. The G1 allows that flexibility and if A550 does not have this, SONY should consider adding it. With this there is no need to focus and then re-frame. Tried the adapter with a few of my lens, 24-105, 28-75, 28-135, 11-18, 18-250. It works, however other than 28-75, there are problems in getting focus when using the other zoom lens at the shortest focal length. For example, with the 24-105, at 24mm there is no way to get focus. Need to use a slightly longer focal length to get focus which means the short focal length is not usable with the adapter. So far all the prime that I have tried focus without problem. No moon to shoot, hence only use my kid's toy as model. #1 The Minolta-m43 Adapter (Photo from LX-3, a bit noisy) ![]() #2 No-crop. G1-Raw process via LR. Focus is on Optimus Face and at widest aperture f4.5. ISO 100. ![]() #3 100% Crop ![]() Edited by tankm, Nov 12 2009, 09:36 PM.

For A550, you can move the rectangle around to select the area for enlargement. I believe is the same for A500. |
