I'm looking to upgrade my kit lens (18-70) to something with more range. I'm using A200, and will most probably upgrade to full frame in future. I travel quite often, so I don't want to carry too many lenses with me, at most 2. I like taking landscape pictures, so I'll like a lens that starts from 16 or 18mm. There're so many brands and choices out there I don't know how to compare, so hoping the experts here can advise.

get the 16-35mm if u have the budget the 17-35mm is a good and affordable alternative. if not ..stick with the 18-70..if u really need to shoot really wide... go the pano method |

I say.... on A200, get your hands on the 18-250! I never leave Sg without it! for FF, I find Sigma 12-24 + Sigma or CZ 24-70 (I use Minolta 28-70G) + 70-200 (or Sigma 75-200) more than enough to cover the range I want. Travel light with FF, then drop the 12-24 and shoot stitched pano as CJNG suggested... BUT most importantly... alway keep a 50mm F1.7 (or F1.4) with you... |
