(Sony A200, 50mm, f2.0, 1/5 sec, ISO 400)

This was one of my submissions for a monthly photo competition at another photography
group/forum. The shot was my first "real" experience with off-camera lighting, which in
this case was a torchlight with tissue paper (diffuser) wrapped around the front and held
in one hand from the side, while my other hand hit the timed shutter. All this while lying
flat on my tummy on the floor of my flat with all the lights off. Maybe not the most
glamourous of setups or execution but, well, it was something like midnight so nobody
saw me doing it and it was a bit of fun!

I love this photo best. By the way, how did you get the chinese wordings in the background? Care to share the trick?

Hi songws, thanks for the comment. Yeah, this was a bit of fun. The words and the bokeh were added in Photoshop. For the words, I basically found some text that looked something like what I was looking for and merged it into my image file as a seperate layer, then played around with the transparency and colour so it would "match" the purplish light that was in the picture itself.

Cheers, Ben
