Yep, it is indeed an orange! This was in support of a project on fruits that my son was doing for his nursery school.

I like this shot.. the waves being pulled back, like tsunami is coming

Hah yes indeed it was quite a dramatic day, weather wise.
Thanks for the comment :)

Seems my boys were standing on my bag, which had the camera inside. I opened it up and found the top bit of the lens squashed into the lens barrel. Yikes! Well, at least it was only a cheapo lens, but still it will be sorely missed. Back to my klit lens for now

ouch... glad it was just the lens although there's a bit of heart pain...

I kinda like the last photo, especially looking thru the lens to see the bookshelf...
You may want to keep the broken lens for the look thru the lens kind of photo...

cheers!

A bit of pain, yes, but could've been worse, eh.

Anyway yeah I'm keeping the lens bits for just that reason (also to satisfy my inate desire to look inside things and figure 'em out).

Will hopefully be able to post some new pics soon but haven't even picked my camera up for days! Crazy lifestyles :)

Cheers, Ben

Hi Greybear and thanks. OK, this is the processing I did on that photo (all in Photoshop CS4):

(1) Levels: rebased the black, grey and white tones.
(2) Cooling Filter (80): applied at 12%.
(3) Contrast: +10
(4) Hue/Saturation: -13% (master) and masked back the colour on the sky and boat.
(5) "Touch of Light/Touch of Darkness" (action): darkened the sky area, lightened the foreground area.
(6) "Burnt Edges" (action): applied and masked back everywhere except for the top edge.

Aside from (2), these are the basic steps that I do on most all of my photos to varying degrees.

In (5), the action is quite a neat tool that adds two adjustment layers that allow you to paint on light or shadow/dark wherever you want to. It is a freely downloadable action.

Just for fun, the original photo is below:
