http://www.digitaltrends.com/photography/the-truth-about-overheating-dslrs/ http://www.popphoto.com/video/2010/09/tested-sony-a33-and-a55-video-overheating-issue Strange thing is, SONY Alpha is not the first DSLR with video and you don't hear this problem being discussed widely with other brand video DSLR even though it's there. Now when SONY Alpha has video this problem is widely discussed and SONY being criticized on it, even though their video limit is the same or better than other brand video DSLR. Does this means, SONY has captured more market share ? |

Probably Sony markets it's Video capabilities harder than the rest? ![]() Anyway, personally I think this problem hits Sony a bit more than other brands because of the Video Functions for the A33/55 are more easily and conveniently used and accessed compared to other brands, my experiences with the D90, 5DMK2 vs the A33 does make me realise that I want to use Video on the A33 more often than on the other cams because it's easier to access and do video (Dedicated button, don't have to switch to LV, then activate video) than the rest, I find myself unconsciously shooting more clips because it felt less like a DSLR and more like a weirdly shaped Video cam. I believe people do shoot more videos unconsciously with the A33/55... so we hit the "jackpot of hotness" more often.

but what the site said is still true. you wanna take vids for hours on end, get a camcorder. this overheating issue for any brand for that matter is moot. |

bursting 7/10frames repeatedly or doing panoramic shots repeatedly for a short period of time might also attribute to the overheating problem... i would turn off my camera when not in use to allow it to 'cool' before shooting again... other than that i think it should be okay if it is just shooting photos... (: |
