depends on which one you're talking about. UH-1 is supposedly about 45MB/s while the 16GB Pro-HG Duo HX that comes free with the a77 is 50MB/s

The Pro-HG Duo you're talkin about is only 30MB/s so to answer your question:

Yes, UH-1 is faster than the Pro-HG Duo :)

hope it helps

let me refine my question, would any UHS-1 card (many brands out there) have faster write speed (theoretical/acutal) compared to the Sony Memory Stick Pro-HG Duo HX.

Anyway i did some digging and got the answer to my question. found out that the Sony card mentioned above does 15MB/s(minimum) of write speed and 30MB/s(according to DPreview) 50MB/s(according to Sony) of read speed. Those UHS-1 on the market has some really awesome write speed of 80MB/s and read speed of 95MB/s (toshiba 95MB/s UH-1) which decreases the buffer clearing time.

But it comes with a higher price-tag in the case of the above mentioned Toshiba card. i also found some UHS Class 1 cards on amazon whose price are comparable to the Pro-HG Duo HX with faster write speed.

seems like the Sony Pro-HG Duo HX needs a refresh to handle the 12FPS better.

Check this out from DPreview: Toshiba 95MB/s UHS-I vs Sony Pro-HG Duo HX on Sony SLTA77
