Storks - Ciconiidae 6 genera, 19 species - List of species Storks are some of the most widely-known birds throughout the world. They considered good luck in Europe. They are mostly white birds but some are black, such as the Black Stork. They are long-necked like herons and cranes, but they are not related. When flying, they keep their necks straight out unlike herons, who keep their necks close to their bodies; though the adjutants keep their heads near their bodies like herons. Many have bald heads because they feed in mud or in carrion. Spoiler: click to toggle

Storks are widely known birds, but wow - so many of them. :0 Some are bright and colourful, then others do have that bald head due to feeding. The order Ciconiiformes really has dropped to becoming exclusive to the storks as of now and what a drop from including herons, ibises, and more; however, storks are neat birds. I must say that I like storks such as the Saddle-billed Stork, Painted Stork, and the Jabiru. XD I don't believe I've seen a real stork in real life aside from those in the zoos (believe it was either the Maguari Stork or the Painted Stork); however, I would like to. Their nests sure are massive. XD Spoiler: click to toggle Amazing how that thin structure supports such a nest that size. XD |

Yeah. I love the Wood Stork myself. They're neat birds. I believe I saw some in CR, but that was so long ago. Their heads... Makes them look wise and old. |

It does look to be the case. Elegant bodies, but such an ancient looking head. XD They sure are beautiful in flight too: ![]() |

Oh whoops. XD My mistake *blames browser lag*. ![]() They really are. Simply "dancing" in the air - it's neat. I'd love to see a stork in the wild - they must be amazing birds. |

I love how long their bills are too. It just adds up to their majestic look. Their stick like legs too. Must be perfect for wading through mud and rivers. XD
