![]() Viruses are defined as to being : "an ultramicroscopic (20 to 300 nm in diameter), metabolically inert, infectious agent that replicates only within the cells of living hosts, mainly bacteria, plants, and animals: composed of an RNA or DNA core, a protein coat, and, in more complex types, a surrounding envelope." Viruses are fascinating little bits of matter though they are so diverse too. That's the trouble with them. XD What's your thoughts about viruses? |

I don't get why they have so much hate. Sure, they kill things; but to me, they are just as fascinating as cats and trees. Bacteriophage is my favourite. So alien-looking

That's so true, they're feared of so much. I guess it's their miniature appearance and how diverse they are, but they actually are very neat. The way they can perform such duties is incredible too! Wow, and you're right - the Bacteriophage definitely are very neat in appearance. Like some little robotic cyborg creature - extraterrestrial looking too! So futuristic looking in appearance; yet, so real as well.

This is exactly why I think they're from outer space. That weird look! |

I must agree. They definitely do look out of our world. XD So out of place, it's scary. Who knows what enters into our atmosphere, so there's a strong possibility that they may have appeared from outer space. So mysterious too! Edited by Captain Toad, May 29 2013, 08:04 PM.

I like to think they came from space as well. I don't see why not, really. |

You're definitely right. Who's to say that they didn't come from space? Our whole universe is a strange place, and perhaps the "real aliens" that invaded Earth were the microscopic viruses. I certainly like to think that they come from Space too as well. |

They also float down from the atmosphere and birds that fly high, they get trapped in their lungs. At least, I heard this on TV. Could be wrong. Though I do accept this theory. |

Wow, I really like the theory of how birds flying in the air can come into contact with them. Not so great for the birds, but it shows how the mysterious viruses come so rapidly into our planet. They're so out of our world in looks, I must say that I quite like this theory myself. |

Definitely is a much more fascinating origin that way. I like to think that too . They're pretty mysterious on their own too. Dang, they way they evolve so quickly too. :0 |

That's truly the most inspiring thing about viruses! Their ability to spread and move on to so many areas. Viruses may be harmful, but they're also have some of the most strangest shapes and designs too! |

Viruses are weird! Some of them are good too! http://www.thenakedscientists.com/HTML/questions/question/3323/ Bacteriophages are apparently beneficial! |

Wow, that's amazing! There are so many harmful viruses, but seeing a beneficial one is just plain nice! If only more viruses were like that - though as body invaders, they don't exactly sound too friendly from he start. :0

I wonder too if viruses are aliens? They don't seem to be of this world at all! |
