Mayfly adults are short-lived insects, some living a few hours and some a few days. Their order name even means "short-lived, winged". The nymphs (larvae) are aquatic. Mayflies are closely related to odonates. This species is called Rhithrogena germanica. There are approximately 2500 species, in 23 families: Siphlonuridae Baetidae Oniscigastridae Ameletopsidae Ametropodidae Coloburiscidae Oligoneuriidae Isonychiidae Heptageniidae Leptophlebiidae Behningiidae Potamanthidae Euthyplociidae Polymitarcydae Ephemeridae Palingeniidae Ephemerellidae Leptohyphidae Tricorythidae Neoephemeridae Baetiscidae Caenidae Prosopistomatidae |

Time for adventure!~

Doesn't sound like they have the most thrilling lives, but it's neat to know of their relation to odonates. They do have a resemblance of sorts. |
