just finished reading A Tale of the Devil: A Biography of Devil Anse Hatfield, by Coleman C. Hatfield and Robert Y. Spense. Hatfield is the great grandson of Anderson "Devil Anse" Hatfield( of the Hatfield and McCoy feud). He used the recordings and journels of his father, who collected some of the family histories. Its a great book, and perhaps one that will finally dispel the notion that us West Virginians are ignorant hillbilies. Also the book dipels some of the common myths and misconceptions about the famous feud. From the recollections from those that took part in the feud, there was a lot of regrets afterwards, and wishes that they hadn't committted some of the acts in the feud. Also I found that I have some common ground with Devil Anse. He and I share a religeoun as both of us were "Cambellites", or members of the Restoration Movement, organized by Thomas and Alexander Campbell of Bethany WV. I'm going to be doing some further reserch into the preacher who baptized Anse. Apparently he spent his entire life in the area, and even served as a Confederate Army chaplain. I'm facinated by the lives of the circuit riding/frontier preachers of the 19th and early 20th century. |

So I put down the Sword of truth series and picked up a book by Anne Rice(writing as A.N. Roguelaure) . It's not the Vampire Chronicles(I've read every book in that series). It's actually her erotica series. A trilogy actually. The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty, Beauty's Punishment and Beauty's Release. Pretty good books. It's about the tenth time I've read them.

BOOYAH!!! I went to Half Price Books, and came home with a mother lode of comics. About 20 issues of Arak:Son of Thunder, 3 issues of Ambush Bug, 3 issues of Men At War (one of those issues with the origin of my favorite DC war Character...Gravedigger!), the complete Camelot 3000 mini series, and issue number one of Sledgehammer(based on the TV series) All this for under 5 bucks.

Did you know that one of his novels could [loosely] be classified as SF? There's an anti-gravity device in 'The Erection Set'... |

The Twisted Thing wrote in 1966. My biggest dissapointment with the book was that Velda wasn't in it. Otherwise a not bad read. |
