Actually the firast time I saw the name was when I read The Song of Hiawatha,by Longfellow. Even had to memorize some passages in American Lit class in HS. Of course nowdays, its another of things that is no longer taught in schools due to the damned political correctness....GRRR!  Longfellow,Whitman, Sandberg, Frost. These are national tresures, and their stuff is much better than the tripe that passes for poetry today.*takes deep breath* Okay, rant's over. :)

Have a child in school do we? lol I have kids in school and the only reason they aren't complete idiots is because we do our own research projects and reading, etc. It's scary what passes for an education these days.

Oh... and I'm sure the quote thing still isn't right.... if someone wants to explain it to me.... slowly and in words of one syllable or less please.... <sigh>

I don't have any kids, but I've plenty of nieces and nephews, and I occasionally like to raise my blood pressure by looking through their textbooks to see what mush is getting put into their skulls, that good ol' Uncle will have to exorsise. When my youngest niece(She's 9) gets a couple of years older I plant to introduce her to the works, and joys of Whitman, Longfellow and Kipling(well, I've already introduced her to the Jungle Book). I think they still occasionally teach Frost and Sandberg in the school systems.

Lotsa luck on that one,my friend. I'd check the classifieds in WWII Magazine, or Military Heritage magazine. Sometimes they have advertisements from companies that sell Military themed books
