Sorry, everyone: I've been in a pissy mood all day. Still, stick to discussing movies in this thread. |

I'm planning to see The Wrestler soon. The reviews have been good.....and I'm a mark for pro wrestling. |

Well, I saw Frost/Nixon last night, and wow. Frank Langella and Michael Sheen are both amazing in it. Iffy history? Yes, undoubtedly. But the script is too good to care. |

I really enjoyed Watchmen. Gran Torino: it was good, but spoiled by the absolutely terrible music at the ending, which was so comically bad I can assume it was meant to be ironic in some subtle fashion that eluded me. |

I've thought about going to see Watchmen, still undecided. It scores around a 70 on Rotten Tomatoes, I still don't know if I want to see it in the theater or wait. I heard Gran Tourino was good as well. Ford should see a slight rise in their stocks. |

I went to go see Watchmen last night, and I have to honestly say it wasn't quite what I had in mind. I suppose Dark Knight spoiled me. I'll try not to give too much away but me biggest pet peave was the interaction with Night Owl and Silver Specter which I thought got a little too long, and the fact that everytime Dr. Manhattan came on scream everyone was squirming. I just wanted to shout "GET OVER IT!!" |

Martyrs. This film seems to have revolted the oh-so-worthies of the British broadsheets but I thought it was extraordinary. It's an assault - it's painful, horrifying, profound, disturbing, visceral and quite unforgettable. It took me three days of pondering and not exactly blissful sleep to figure out that I did indeed think it was excellent rather than viciously exploitative and tawdry; if nothing else, I think this shows that it merits discussion rather than being so casually dismissed by the clowns at The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph (she walked out before the end! do your fucking job!). Has anyone seen or even heard of it? I strongly recommend watching, unless you have a weak constitution. I can't promise you'll enjoy the experience but hopefully it will be thought-provoking. |

I saw Star Trek and really enjoyed it - the audience gave it a round of applause at the end. |

You don't want to get me started. I am over on Jolt, revealing my inner Trekkie. And they used Majel Roddenberry for the computer voice! I ask you, how good -- thoughtful -- respectful -- tribute-giving -- is that? It's more than a nod to canon, more than a cameo appearance, more than a reprise, it's ... well, it's what Picard would have done. I know no higher praise than that. |

You have an inner Trekkie? I love you. I went to see the movie wearing this with a commbadge attached and two gold pips on the collar and my sister borrowed my Bajoran earring. ![]() ...okay, I'm really getting back to work on my paper...honest |

There don't seem to be any good movies (or at least, movies I want to see) out now or slated for upcoming release. Bit disappointing. In terms of older films, I've recently watched Kids - commanding but utterly grim - and Friday Night Lights, which is a pretty decent American Football movie (with Explosions in the Sky soundtrack!). |
